Since the beginning of the 19th century, the glass dynasty Lobmeyr has proved to be one of the most innovative and renowned in the Austrian industry. Rather than limiting himself to the role of glass merchant, its founder Josef Lobmeyr, exclusive supplier to the Imperial court, invested and developed new designs and manufacturing techniques.

An iconic Lobmeyr design from 1952, the Alpha Carafe is based on copper beakers from the Middle Ages, updated for postwar families seeking elegance and practicality. Appropriately, Alpha is made from Lobmeyr’s renowned muslin glass; ultra-thin and hand blown, it is both sublimely delicate and remarkable resilient.
