In essence, Demeulemeester’s work continues to explore and celebrate contrasts – a beauty that is found in the interplay between strength and fragility, structure and nonchalance, poetic and radical, preciousness and functionality.
In Dé, the play of chiaroscuro - light and shadow - which is so characteristic of Ann Demeulmeester's style, is translated into tableware. The result is a collection of shadow paintings on porcelain.
