The pomegranate tree spread from Persia throughout the Mediterranean. It embellished many ancient Egyptian tombs. The pomegranate fruit symbolizes many things. It appears in the Song of Songs, in The Odyssey and in ancient folklore, emblematic of fertility and abundance.
